Indian weightlifter Mirabai Chanu received a gold medal with a mixed raise of 201kg within the Ladies’s 49kg closing on the ongoing Commonwealth Games 2022 in Birmingham on Saturday. The Tokyo Olympic silver medallist shattered the Commonwealth Games information to win India’s first gold medal.

Earlier, India opened its medal account on the Games with 21-year-old weightlifter Sanket Mahadev Sargar claiming a silver within the males’s 55 kg class. He settled for the second place with a mixed raise of 248 kg (113 kg+135 kg).

Thereafter, Gururaja Poojary, who had received the silver medallist within the final version (56 kg) of CWG, bagged the bronze in males’s 61 kg. India’s fourth medal Bindyarani Sorokhaibam then received India’s fourth medal, a bronze, of the day within the ladies’s 55 kg weightlifting.

In the meantime, Tokyo Olympic Games medallist Lovlina Borgohain began her Commonwealth Games 2022 boxing marketing campaign on a profitable notice as she defeated New Zealand’s Ariane Nicholson 5-0 within the gentle middleweight 70kg class.
