The Kentucky Equine Education Undertaking (KEEP) Foundation has launched the Gateway Education Program, a job shadow alternative for Fayette County highschool seniors.
This program permits college students the chance to watch professionals within the equine trade and expertise a day within the lifetime of that operation, acquire an actual life understanding of careers, profession pathways, and the schooling and abilities wanted for a profession within the equine trade.
For the 2022-2023 college yr, the KEEP Foundation has partnered with Locust Hint AgriScience Heart and the Fayette County Public Colleges’ Expertise Primarily based Profession Education program. After this yr, the purpose is to broaden this system to surrounding counties and finally statewide.
College students with little to no expertise with horses will attend an orientation session on the Kentucky Equine Adoption Heart the place they’ll take part in an introductory stage equine curriculum program earlier than beginning their job shadow place(s). College students with equine expertise will proceed straight into their job shadow.
